That means they could beat the entire map in a few hours. They can move roughly 240 blocks in one minute. One pixel = one "block" (which is where the player stands). I have other people reported they used 40k x 40k png images that are around 20 MB (but have had more colors than my maps currently do) and they work fine in the map generator. Yes, but that's about the smallest size I wanted to go. So the first question is, are you sure? 40k x 40k, is REALLY big. (but then again, I am an artist, not an engineer). I just don't understand how the math works on this. When I export the 40k, it comes up to ~6mb also, but as I mentioned above it's a blank or black screen so I'm guessing because it has no colors in it for my map generator to find, that it won't be the actual size, but it doesn't stand to reason that a 40k would be 1000x higher in size than a 30k image. If I use compression on the above sized map images, I can get about an 80% lossless compression on each. They show up on my screen and I can use them. I have exported 20k x 20k and it was only ~3.7mb, the 25k was ~5.1mb, the 27.5k was ~6mb, and a 30k was ~6.7mb. I'm sorry but that doesn't seem to make any sense. Ī 40k x 40k image would be 6.4GB of a bitmap image. Is there any help or course of action I can take to get this file to export to my required size? Thank you all in advance. So I'm assuming it's not just MY computer/system that can't "view" this artwork, because the tool I am trying to use is basically saying "there are no colors present". And worse, when I use it in my map generator, the program essentially can't find the map shapes/colors and throws an error. The problem is that even though the exported PNG seems to be about the right file size (~6mb) and the correct dimensions I have specified, the file shows up black on my screen, or completely empty/transparent (no artwork) inside Photoshop. I can open the SVG and export to PNG just fine, and can change the file dimensions as well. So I thought perhaps exporting to an SVG file and moving into Inkscape was my solution. I cannot export from Illustrator big enough.The "Export for Screens" option just usually craps out with a stupid generic "Unable to export" message, but I have pretty much figured it's anything over about 32k dimensions that it doesn't seem to like. The map generator uses a 1:1 scale so unfortunately I need to have a LARGE PNG file, somewhere in the specs of 40k x 40k (give or take is fine). The map generator uses an PNG image file and corrosponding color hex codes to the different areas. I am creating a terrain map for a fantasy video game.
